Mission

Throughout my life, I’ve had good ideas as to what I wanted to do with my life only to find that my heart wasn’t in it time and time again. Until a couple of years ago, however, I never felt so convinced that the career I’m now pursuing is the one that, if fate existed, was meant for me.

I want to be a professional video game journalist.

It should have been so obvious. I spent most of my childhood claiming I would become a video game designer, but upon learning writing code wasn’t for me, I decided writing novels, short stories, and articles was in my future. After spending a couple years in college knocking out the prerequisites (mostly struggling with math) to begin my journey towards a degree in English, anticipation for Super Smash Bros. Brawl and an equally enthusiastic co-worker convinced me that journalism (of the video game variety) was my calling.

It took a while for my blog to take on this form, but in the magical summer of Wii Fit and Metal Gear Solid 4 (not that I particularly enjoyed either of those games), I got into a sleep-deprived, game-focused flow that took me back to my childhood.

I know it won’t be easy getting paid for what is currently my favorite hobby, and even when I do, I won’t be driving fancy cars and parking them in garages attached to equally fancy houses. Several people, some even in the business, have tried to persuade me against pursuing my goal, but there’s nothing going back for me now. I’m convinced more than ever that this is what I want to do. Money isn’t a concern. This is my passion and I’ll follow it through.

I hope you enjoy my blog.
